In Furious Angels, Amy and her companions finally reach the city that holds the last three Extiguos, but getting their hands on them won’t be as easy as planned, despite having an ally with a connection to the Chief. Director Tamucier welcomes Madu, Maru’s brother, into his new position on the Council and shortly after that gets him started on a mysterious project. Though the Director invites both Amy and Licha along, it becomes obvious he has his sights set on one guest in particular, Licha.

 

I really loved how this book unfolded. What’s the Director up to? The Madu thing? Odd, and a bit dangerous. Then some more underworld activity, and somehow Amy gets involved. La Arana’s followers are still about and causing problems. Multiple conspiracies erupt, and the team’s missing member is still absent, much to everyone’s worry. There’s also another dose of fascinating history, religious oddities, and, of course, another reading of the Extiguous. And that’s just in Cascadota.

 

Again, Licha gets thrown into the role of attractive distraction, though first Amy and then the rest of the companions dislike this. She’s still being foolish and the others are letting her because it’s convenient. And it happens over and over. I’m hoping she settles down at some point.

 

Anyhow, I guess what I’m saying is this book kept me guessing, kept me reading, and kept me wanting more all the way to the last page. I can’t wait for the next one. I’d highly recommend the series to folks who like mysteries, magic, and fascinating worlds and characters.
